The Heart Behind the Stories
About The Author
Avanti developed an interest in reading while growing up in Choudwar, Odisha, by the banks of the Mahanadi River. After moving to Nagpur, Maharashtra, her essays and poetry appeared in local newspapers, and University magazines.
Her stories weave magical-realist and psychological elements to explore how dreams and memory shape waking life. She writes in both print and audio.
In her debut novel, ‘House Of Past,’ a young woman suspended between dream and reality struggles with adulthood. Spectral encounters draw her towards an unavoidable truth, capturing the uncertain passage from youth to maturity.
Now living in Bangalore, Avanti holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Philosophy in Linguistics. Before turning fully to fiction, she worked briefly as a reporter, and later as a science school teacher. She is currently at work on a new book.

In search of escape, Anya retreats into dreams of her childhood home, abandoned and suspended between memory and imagination.
But dreams are not empty spaces.
A dark spectre follows her there, pulls her back into the corridors of past, and she is thirteen again. She relives forgotten friendships, buried grief, and a love she wishes to hold on to forever.
The memories she tried to bury rise again, demanding to be understood.

REFLECTIONS & REVIEWS
The author’s writing style is slow burning yet intensely visual. It is gothic in creating this young woman’s emotionally gained pain, while this book tries to provide the light of hope. The house itself creates the characteristics – it is broken, still, stubborn and beckoning.
Diyasha
A beautiful intertwining of the past and present, seamlessly moving between characters and their back-stories, very detailed story building and character design with a vast, enticing and mysterious plot.

Bought the book and finished it in one sitting. Truly a captivating read, and amazing work done by a first time author whom I am sure to be reading again and again.
